Spreewald Travelogue (6)

(Paddeln) 17.8.

Translation:

17.8. We’re at the lake – bath day!
At seven in the morning the whole lake is covered with fog. No motor boats around. – So now I can swim across!
We’re bathing for a while, find mussels and build drip castles.

And they lived happily ever after.

Spreewald Travelogue (5)

(Paddeln) “Mist!” – “Puh.” Perfekter Campingplatz: Halbinsel Raatsch im Neuendorfer See.

Translation:

“Damn!” [dripping wet] “Whew!” (from then on, bad earworm of “Westerland” – sorry, you can’t possibly get this joke, it’s an Ärzte song featuring the line “Wie oft sprang ich in die Spree” – “how often did I jump into the Spree river”)
[Schlepzig]
In the evening there’s finally some current and we can drift with it.
Perfect campsite: Raatsch peninsula on Neuendorf lake. Place to sit with a roof, boat next to tent, tent meadow next to beach, (neighbors that give us food), red wine from the camp shop.

The perfect campsite.

Spreewald Travelogue (4)

(Paddeln) 16.8. “Hilf mir mal!” – “Lasst ma, das muss so sein.”

Here’s the translation, so Cat Typist doesn’t have to do my work again:

16.8. Rain in the morning (as expected)
“And everything is already tucked away! How clever we are.”
We have a fan club. “Are you twins?”
Also, we’re really motivated. “At least we have no midges.” – “Lovely to be all alone on the water!” – “And perfect weather to cover some distance!”
Self-service water locks are everywhere around here. Usually some kids play lock operators. But not today. And the lock doesn’t like us…
“Can you come help me?” – “Don’t worry, that’s how it’s supposed to be.”

You’ll have to deal with that cliffhanger… see you on Wednesday!
